FRANCES BARRY, LMFT

I am a psychotherapist in private practice in West Los Angeles. I specialize in working with elementary school children struggling with anger and anxiety. In addition, I support children and adolescents who have lost a parent to cancer. As a statistician-turned-therapist, I also empower therapists to optimize their marketing programs one step (or one statistic) at a time. I enjoy attending live music at small venues, listening to fantasy books and spending time with my dog Lucy. This is my first time submitting artwork to an exhibit. Currently, I am working on several writing projects, both books and lyrics.

Spotlight

(Mixed Media, 13” x 16”)

Spotlight is a representation of my desire to break free from my childhood experiences with the Catholic Church and to fight their continued influence on my expectations and perceptions of everyday engagements with people and events. The artwork is a reminder of how much richer life can be when we step into culturally unsanctioned spotlights, pushing aside past layers of influence, sinking deeper into the present moment to experience a fresh perspective.
