ROBIN WALKER, LMFT

I've been painting for as long as I've been a therapist--over 30 years (GASP!). I began painting because of a crisis of doubt. What was I doing with my life? I always, secretly, wanted to be an artist. And there I was in grad school for psychology! At that moment I told myself I'd do both. And I did. Today, my office is a 600 sq. ft. art studio.

Portrait of the Artist as a Rock Star
(Acrylic on wood panel, 60x48)

This is a bit of a self portrait. What would I be if I weren't a therapist? I don't know. But I fantasize about being a musician. In truth, I have way more desire than I have talent. Which figure am I? Depends on the day. My goal in painting is to pick a subject and render it in a way that pleases me: immediacy of expression, simplicity and an abundance of color.
