CARON POST, PhD,
Clinical Psychologist

Art has been an enduring passion in my life. In my paintings, I try to capture the beauty, deep emotion and mystery of the people, creatures, and the natural world that I’m immersed in and that I love. The strong desire to express those elements of life are what inspire me to paint. My subject matter is often family, friends, nature, flowers, everyday objects and still lifes. When creating portraits, it’s important to me that I place the subject in a context that is unique and specific to them and that allows us to understand more of who they are as a person and spirit.

I aspire to capture the complexity and depth of feeling, along with the mystery and beauty that I experience in the world. I hope my love of those things comes through in what the viewer experiences.

Self Portrait
(Water Based Oil Paint on Canvas,
20" High x20" Wide)

This self- portrait simultaneously reflects the chaos and coherence within. The hair embodies the sometimes chaotic nature of my emotional experience, as well as expression and flow, but at the same time expresses a coherence even within the free, open and wild movements. The face is communicating the growing wisdom from a life fully lived and from psychotherapeutic work as patient and therapist alike. The colors and forms provide structure and coherence for the range of feelings expressed.
